So I come home from school today and my dad asks me to go get the mail. I go outside, get the mail, bring it in. Nothing unusual. I’m sitting in my room, beating my head against the wall over chemistry homework when my dad walks in and throws something at me and says “I always knew you were a smart kid.” I look at what he’s thrown at me- something from Yale. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE): a long-term autoimmune disorder that may affect the skin, joints, kidneys, brain and other organs
My doctor told me today that there was a high likelihood that I had SLE, or lupus, for short. I’ve been lucky in regards to my health, no real problems until now. So this will be an interesting passage in my life, to say the least…
